Still Becoming

While I was out for 3 months, I had this written out. Lmk what y'all think.

[INTRO]

Yeah…
Sometimes you gotta lose your way before you finally understand who you are.
Sometimes the darkest nights are exactly where you learn to recognize the stars.
Sometimes the road gets lonely, and you wonder if you're walking it alone.
But sometimes getting lost is the only way you find your way back home.

[VERSE 1]

I was sixteen with a head full of dreams and a heart that wanted to fly,
Running from the shadows of the girl I'd been, while asking myself why.
Everybody told me, “You got time, someday you're gonna be fine,”
But nobody ever warned me how quickly the years disappear with time.

I watched some people leave, watched some promises slowly fall apart,
Learned that “forever” isn't always something you can keep in your heart.
I carried every goodbye like a heavy stone underneath my chest,
Thinking if I held onto the pain, somehow I'd still have what was left.

[VERSE 2]

Mama said, “Don't let the world make you cold, no matter what you go through,”
But the world can feel so heavy when you're just trying to make it through.
I smiled for all the pictures when deep inside I wanted to cry,
Said, “I'm doing okay,” while there was a thunderstorm behind my eyes.

There were nights I questioned every road I'd ever chosen to take,
Wondered if the girl I dreamed I'd be was slowly starting to break.
But the girl with all that fire didn't disappear beneath the fear,
She just learned that being brave sometimes means admitting you're scared.

[RAP 1]

Look,
I got scars that I don't show, got battles buried deep beneath the ground,
Got a thousand little reasons I could've disappeared, but I'm still around.
I learned that pain ain't a prison, it's a teacher giving lessons through the test,
And sometimes what is strong enough to break you shows you what is in your chest.

I don't need to have the answers, I just need to keep moving at my pace,
Even when I'm taking baby steps, I'm still becoming someone every day.
I used to think I had to prove that I deserved to stand inside the light,
Now I know the sun doesn't ask permission when it rises every morning bright.

[VERSE 3]

I remember sitting alone beside my bedroom door late at night,
Thinking I'd been left behind while everyone else was taking flight.
But growth doesn't always make a sound when something beautiful begins,
Sometimes it's simply choosing not to give up and starting over again.

So I forgave the younger girl I was for everything she couldn't know,
For every door she couldn't open and every place she couldn't go.
She was only trying to survive with every little thing she had back then,
And I'm proud of her for making it this far, and choosing to begin again.

[BRIDGE]

Maybe I'm not broken, maybe I'm just bent from everything I've been through,
Maybe every wrong turn was taking me somewhere I was meant to move.
Maybe all these pieces don't have to fit perfectly together today,
Maybe being unfinished is just another beautiful word for change.

And if tomorrow finds me still searching for the answers I can't see,
I'll remember there's no deadline on becoming the woman I'm meant to be.
I don't have to rush the journey just because the world keeps moving on,
I can take my time becoming the girl I always knew was there all along.

[RAP 2]

I used to count my failures like they owed me something in return,
Every loss became a label, every setback gave me something else to learn.
Now I look at every chapter like a lesson hidden underneath the pain,
Every tear became a river that carried me through storms and into change.

I ain't running from my history, every chapter's written in my name,
Every bruise became a brushstroke, every loss became a part of what I became.
And I'm done comparing journeys, 'cause everybody's got their own road,
You can carry your own mountain and still find ways to lighten up the load.

So here's to all the girls who are barely hanging on tonight,
Who wake up every morning wondering if they'll ever get things right.
You don't have to see the whole road, you just have to take another step,
Sometimes surviving one more day is how you build tomorrow's strength.

[VERSE 4]

I found hope in little things I used to pass without a second glance,
A stranger's kindness, an old song, one unexpected second chance.
A sunrise through my window, coffee cooling slowly in my hands,
Proof that life keeps giving something beautiful, even when you don't understand.

I stopped waiting for the moment when everything would finally make sense,
Stopped treating every mistake like it was evidence against myself.
There's beauty in the middle, where the story still isn't completely clear,
Where you're not who you used to be, but you're not quite who you'll be yet either.

[RAP 3]

Yeah,
I'm still becoming, still learning, still standing right here,
Still turning all my doubt into something honest and sincere.
Still carrying the people that I lost along the way,
Still grateful for the ones who chose to love me and decided to stay.

If I fall, let me fall forward, and if I cry, let the tears finally cleanse,
If I lose, let me learn something, and if I love, let it mean something in the end.
I don't need to be fearless, I just need to keep believing I can be,
Because every version of this girl has been leading her back to me.

[VERSE 5]

Now I see my younger self in every nervous girl who feels out of place,
Every girl who's hiding all her worries behind a carefully practiced face.
And I'd tell her, “You're not late, you're not too far gone to start again,
The fact that you're still standing means you've already survived everything.”

[VERSE 6]

So I'll walk into tomorrow with my head held high and my heart wide open,
Not because I know the answers, but because I know I'll keep going.
I've got dreams I haven't touched and roads I've never traveled down,
And a thousand different versions of the woman I can become from here somehow.

Maybe I'll stumble, maybe I'll change my mind along the way,
Maybe I'll lose some things I thought would always choose to stay.
But whatever comes, I'll meet it with an honest heart and open eyes,
Because becoming isn't finding someone else—it's finally realizing I'm already mine.

[FINAL CHORUS]

I'm still becoming, still finding my way through everything I can't explain,
Still learning how to carry all the memories, the love, the loss, and pain.
I'm still becoming, and I'm finally learning that that's enough for me,
I don't need to know the ending just to believe in everything I'll be.

I've been lost, I've been broken, I've been scared, and I've been free,
I've been every kind of girl I needed at the time just to survive and breathe.
And every version of myself was bringing me closer to the truth,
That I don't have to find somebody else when I can finally choose myself too.

I'm still becoming… yeah, I'm still becoming every single day,
And for the first time in my life, I don't need to rush the way.
I'm still becoming… and maybe that's the beauty I've been waiting to see,
I don't have to become somebody perfect—I'm becoming me.

[OUTRO]

So if you're somewhere in the middle, don't be frightened by the unknown,
Some flowers take the longest time to bloom when they're growing on their own.
You are not your worst day, and you are not everything that you have lost,
You are every time you chose to keep on going, no matter what it cost.

And maybe that's the meaning, maybe that's the mystery we never get to see,
We spend our whole lives changing while becoming who we're meant to be.
So take your time, beautiful girl, there's nowhere you have to rush to,
You're still becoming—and the woman you're becoming is already inside you.
