Lyrical Analysis of...
About Me
- My real name is Joshua Pachkowsky.
- I lived with my mom the first four years I was born.
- I was born in Winnepeg, but raised in Windsor.
- Then I met my dad at age 4.
- My mom wasn't the best mom ever. She dated several guys.
- When I was five, she met a man named Daniel Dupuis.
- They got married. I was there for the first part of the wedding,
- But my dad picked me up soon after.
- Just for the weekend, though.
- I was still doing 50/50 Mom and dad shit.
- My dad and I loved listening to Eminem. He had a CD of The Eminem Show.
- I was inspired by Rabbit Run, which was a song by Eminem on his 8 Mile Album.
- When I graduated, I tried to call my mom to have her at my ceremony,
- But she didn't go. We gave the ticket to my Uncle Toine, a close friend of my dad's.
- I have a half brother named Brendan B. Middleton. And his birthday is May 28, 2025.
- He's changed my life.
- I wrote Dear Mom after I haven't seen my mother in a full year. I got the "letter"
- Idea from Stan.
- I forget where I got the idea of the name "Vortex," but when I got it, I loved it.
- When I was in Kindergarten, I met a kid named Zachary Aaron Carriere.
- He was my best friend for seven years.
- We never really seen each other outside of school, (Except for one time,
- I found him hanging around his dad at Walmart...)
- By 2024, I was moving in full time with Dad. Mom and I argued a shit ton of times.
- I kept telling her I wanted to see her every other weekend, because seeing her so often,
- Would most likely make me go crazy with all the abuse.
- One night I woke up to the sound of my mom being punched by her husband.
- CAS got involved with that shit, and she kept denying it. She still does to this day.
- But anyway, when Grade 7 was ending, my mom and I were getting in a shitty mess,
- And she kept arguing with me and my dad. I moved in full time with my dad,
- But it wasn't really on paper. So we're still fighting to get that in order,
- Anyway, as Grade 7's last day came around, I knew it would be the last time,
- I'd see Zac again. Gave him a big hug, and left.
- Grade 8 came. New School. Amherstburg Public School. But I missed my friend.
- Because he was the only kid who stuck by me.
- I missed him so much that I wrote him a letter. Sent the letter to my old school,
- And apparently, he DID get it,
- But I never got one back.
- And it fucked me up. Because it makes me wonder,
- Was this guy even my fucking friend in the first place?
- So as grade 8 was coming to an end, I started listening to Eminem again.
- I fell in love. Rabbit Run helped me realize what I could be.
- What I could be.
- What COULD I be?
- I could be Vortex.
- So I started rapping in the beginning of 2025.
- And eventually, as Graduation was coming,
- I wanted to call my mom.
- She answered, but insisted her husband (Mind you: he beat the crap out of her one night,
- I'll never find any respect for that man) comes to my grad. I said NO.
- She then said that the cat died. This cat was 25 years old. That's OLD AS FUCK.
- And then she said she wasn't feeling well.
- I told her I love her and hung up.
- Never heard from her since then.
- We gave my mom's ticket to my dad's close friend Uncle Toine.
- Love that guy.
- I remember shaking my teacher's hand on the stage that I rapped in a year later,
- For the talent show in April, 2026.
- Now I'm Vortex. A white Canadian novice Rapper who loves Eminem's music.
- I found my new rap family, the Underdogs.
- I met Carson in the first semester of Grade 9, and we immediately became friends,
- We were rapping together, writing stories together, and eventually, he helped me make Legendary.
- At some point, we were asking our friends to join us in our rap group. We were the Underdogs.
- And later on, I was occasionally rapping with the boys at lunch breaks.
- I performed at the talent show for my high school (North Star High School) as the ninth performer,
- There was me as Vortex, Carson as Lil'C, Charley Pongratz as Speedy Charley,
- And Henry Reaume as Missile.
- We were the Underdogs.
- And I rapped the first few verses of Legendary.
- The crowd fucking loved it.
- I loved it.
- I felt like Vortex.
- Then, I started using Rappad.
- Recently, we teamed up with X Factor.
- And honestly, I don't even know if the rest of the Underdogs like hanging out with me.
- Here's a rap about that:
- "Sometimes I think the friend group don't like me no more,
- But that's just 'cause nobody tries to find me anymore,
- I'm always joinin' the conversation, sayin' shit,
- But then I'm pushed to the corner, and when everyone leaves,
- I'm a loner.
- Shit like this makes me emotional, I'm supposed to be a fuckin' soldier,
- A leader, not a follower,
- I can't be popular if my friends don't know me,
- I wish they'd look me in my eyes, tell me they don't want me.
- I'm pushed around, all over town,
- Tryn'a get back 2 my group's meet up house,
- But they don't tell me where to go now,
- I freak out, hyperventilate,
- Try to breathe,
- One in, one out, breathe deep,
- Lash out, fall down to the ground and weep!
- Life gets hard when you don't know who or where your people are!
- I keep havin' this thought, I'm on the sidewalk at 10 o'clock,
- Walkin' to Speedy Charley's apartment,
- Car comes out from the dark,
- (CRASH!)
- Hits me when I'm on the street tryn'a cross it,
- I'm beat, I fall off the hood of the car and land on the cold concrete.
- But that's just one of the things that I constantly think,
- Blink, and you'll miss the one time your life is actually fine,
- I'd give my love to my girl, I tell her she's my world,
- Then the truth is revealed, she just used me like a shield for her exes,
- I'd give my life to my friends, I'd take the pain 'til my end,
- I'd take the blame for all the blazin' flames in Meadowbrook Lane,
- Take the grenade when they're a mile away, explode the damn thing myself,
- Take my name outta the game as long as the Underdogs get to live another day!
- But they wouldn't do the same."
- Anyway, That's my life. And now you know Vortex.
