Lyrical Analysis of...
Bravery
- Man, as I get older,
- I grow more bitter from…
- Literally nothing?
- But at the same time… at everything?
- Cuz it’s like everything means nothing;
- //0:18
- They say don’t stop, but as soon as I keep going
- They don’t watch, I’m proving to people I’m a
- Independent thinker in the pen and ink for
- Spitting endless speech in given text to read from;
- Since I was a kid, I always dreamt big, set list
- Of goals I hoped to get with a bit of leverage,
- Uphold each second, damn near everything I went in
- Giving it my all and my Mom envisioned from the present;
- She said “kid, I know you want to reach the big successes”,
- But now she doesn’t know I want to be a little legend,
- Rapping is my passion, and I want to hit the planet
- With something unique, but will I get the chance then?
- //0:47
- But I wait, and I wait, and I wait for the day,
- I can break, I can break, I can break from this pain,
- Though it takes someone brave to go face all the hate,
- Or I stay in my shame, someone save me from my grave;
- //0:56
- It’s my life but I’m not even in control of it,
- What am I supposed to get? A moment of “holy shit”,
- It goes from there, to then “I told you bitch”,
- You would blame everyone but you instead of owning it;
- Then you hurt the ones who love you the most,
- Cuz you think they don’t know you enough but then go
- On to not tell anyone what you’re really feeling, so
- You come with an excuse about why you feel alone;
- So when my own parents keep on bothering me
- About what I don’t share when I want a job in my degree,
- I probably should stop to think if I’m the problem in me,
- If my heart’s on my sleeve, I would've dropped, I’m deceased;
- Cuz I don’t like sharing my thoughts away private,
- As soon as I do, I’m reminded of why I stay silent,
- So imagine if I gave this to the public, I’ll create riots
- All around me, disowned and then I’d blame clients;
- //1:34
- I write a verse, got sixteen bars, (yeah!)
- It’s time for work, jump in the car, (woo!)
- My boss gets mad, I wish he stopped, (choo!)
- Once off the clock, I spit my thoughts; (aye!)
- //1:43
- I hate the new era of music, it’s the same shit,
- And I knew there are some uses it can pave in,
- Like new ideas to keep saying how it’s wasted,
- I don’t know how I’m gonna make it; (it’s okay!)
- Cuz one of my friends called me up and asked if I
- Could come by his venue and see if I’ll grab the mic,
- I was nervous to get through, but soon as I rapped the rhymes,
- The whole crowd went wild, yeah I’ll be back another night;
- So if I was to be a real rapper for the future,
- This is the outcomes I see and more coming sooner,
- But that night gave me the confidence from a true M.
- C., still can’t believe this is where my life jumps and moves up;
- Only thing is, I don’t know how to tell my mom,
- Would she be disappointed? Would she yell a ton?
- If I’m this annoyed and too scared share my news,
- What do they care what I do? My prayers stay true;
- //2:21
- But I wait, and I wait, and I wait for the day,
- I can break, I can break, I can break from this pain,
- Though it takes someone brave to go face all the hate,
- Or I stay in my shame, someone save me from my grave;
