Monday afternoon
Tidying the window wells
Baby chirps heard near
Mother duck worried, distressed
Saved I climbed down, set them free
Came back the next week
Noticed a few trapped again
Funky smells arose
Sounds of flies buzzing around
3 ducklings rotting away
It's unfortunate
Though there were 8 in total
5 alive and well
Happy perspective
Nature is cruel and unfair
Still I wonder why...
What made them go down there?
