Mahlet
• Written by Shinu
face like Mehbuba, with a stunning smile
body like Gelilla, with a fashion and style
dark hair longer than a mid-winter night
confident, respectful with a soul full of light
everybody wanted her, ain't nobody seen better
catcalls, messages, even some love letter
the town loved and respected her mad
men lined up at her door, asking for her hand
rejected everyone, left everyone behind
see, girl is ambitious, got big dreams in her mind.
she an early bird, wakes up in the morning, to go to school,
leaves her house, greeting neighbors, smiling like a fool
studying all day comes home late from the library,
walks home alone, got no fear of the dark alley
meet x the thug, a tall guy with a scar on his face,
in and out of jail, for different crimes
nasty personality and nobody dared to look him in the eyes
he carries a knife and drags his fellow minions
see, it's been a while since x spotted the girl
followed her here and there, to know somethin abt her
tried to holla at her, even send her some gifts,
she returned them all, n told him she can't accept all these
he didn't stop, she yelled at him n told him he made her uncomfortable
starting a life with him, that's very unthinkable
he was never dared like that, embarrassed like that, his ego hurt
he vowed to make her his, to steal her love and heart
he tried everything but failed at every attempt
went possessive, he won't set her exempt
he waited one night, for her to come from school
in that scary alley, where darkness rule
he grabbed her from behind and caged her mouth with his hand
she tried to scream hard, but only a muffled sound
he took a small blade razor out of his back pocket
and hold it against her face, screaming, you're done now mahlet
he shaved her hair down, isn't this why ur agitated
he slit her face open, isn't this why ur so gutted
he slit her again and again until her face becomes unrecognized
she screamed her heart out, with every ounce of energy shes had
that's when we heard an ear-piercing shriek
we run out of the house, n saw other neighbors like us running towards the dark
there she was lying on the ground, with blood gushing out of her face n body
nobody knew it was her, it was a great tragedy
the town cried for her, we felt for her genuinely.
a few days later she woke up in a hospital bed, wishing she was dead
the girl with a beautiful soul, a beautiful mind and life full of color
turned into a different person, all because of one wicked man's demeanor
