Addictions Pathway

Let's me start out by saying this all takes time,

Many triggers may cause us into a rapid life of crime.

Breaking down the power that addiction has over us,

We must disassemble the items that we trust!

 

Russian Roulette! Oh, what a sick and twisted game,

one must first consider the odds before taking aim.

Addiction is also twisted, but a fate many will endure.

If some aren't careful this way of life is sure.

 

If many nights you lay awake thinking I'm done,

I'm just a rerun. I hate this monster I've become...

Today you wake up from a dark dream and wonder,

what causes you to continue to make this same blunder?

 

So as you research and diagnose the mechanics,

you feel a darkness in your inner being as it panics.

Addiction's chains are passed down through generations,

can they be broken or are we bound by our relations.

 

How many time must this cycle repeat, to be complete?

How long will fathers give their sons this life of defeat?

Yet we realize that each of us are responsible for our self!

Our actions aren't caused by what father took off the shelf!

 

Although what we see does play a role in our mindset,

addiction is as dangerous as the game Russian Roulette!

A single thought just like a gun with just one bullet

wont kill us, but might be the final piece to destroy us, could it?

 

Many say gender doesn't increase our chance to fail,

yet research states a male has twice the risk of a female.

Now don't take this information and an excuse conceive,

because we are given the ability for greatness to achieve.

 

If someone wants to be gullible, blind, and deceived,

just give up and become a victim of a life preconceived.

Just say it's in my genes, hereditary, or genetic!

Let the devil lie to you, but realize this, you look pathetic!

 

The odds of addiction for each are truly unique!

Some will fail seventy time seven, so to speak.

Is life predestined or can we decide what we become,

by changing our end, or must we to this defeat succumb?

 

Can we decrease these odds that end in failure,

is there a chance different actions can be our savior.

Einstein said "if we make the same choices (vanity)

but expect different results that is insanity!"

 

Why is it that we wanna be someone we're not,

those we want to impress, want what we already got.

There is only one thing that allows pressure from a peer,

nope it's not leverage, it's just plain fear.

 

To put it plain & simple; making it easy for you to follow.

You must see your not a victim bound by a life that seems hollow.
