no other parent could handle me the way you did
forgave me even when i broke your trust like a lockpick
tell you everything without feeling like i’m some convict
i could write an edict on all the things i did wrong
but i’ll leave dirty laundry in the wash where it belongs
your patience with me is so long, it’s never-ending

i remember you taking me to iep meetings
fighting so hard to make sure i got what i needed
both of us disabled but we never could be defeated
keep fighting until your energy’s depleted
that’s the lesson you taught me and it’s one that i’m repeating
i know you just wanted me to do my best
even though i still don’t get the best scores on tests
i know nothing can make you love me any less
to have you in my life i feel truly blessed

all the times in my life that i made you suffer

i’m glad they know about the angel who’s tougher than anything,
superwoman that loves k-dramas but isn’t a drama queen
any boys with flowers will have to get past me
had a bad childhood, didn’t want the same for me
got one anyway, certain circumstances just came to be
i hope you don’t blame yourself, practice humility
