You Can Change The World

• Written by

Can't nothing stop me is what I told myself
When I walked on stage and got booed off stage like can I hold myself?
Hurt my self esteem and hurt my dreams like a bad fall
Tried to get back up but it was harder than I thought ya'll
I was in my room contemplating what's my next step
Now that there's no way that I'm getting success
I was praying up to God, hoping for less stress
Maybe he'd give me a pass like a drug test
But nah, instead I had to deal with weird looks, paranoia
Name calling, middle fingers, they'll do it just to annoy ya
Had me self doubting, non-believing like an atheist
Made a pool of blood and told me to go and bathe in it
And nah it ain't literal but that's how it felt
I hated every little quality about myself
Looking for anybody's comfort but no one helped
I was alone dealing with, all these cards God dealt
And home didn't make me feel any better
Pops gone, not a call, not even a letter
And momma tryna make it work, working hard at work
But I was still sleeping on the couch till my back hurt
And bill collectors called like that's their legal name
While gunshots could be heard as the house phone rang
But I tried to hold on to my dreams and hopes
With the tightest of grip, lika tug of war rope
And so I kept writing through the rain and the lighting
Through the summer and the winter, through the love and the fighting
I will never forget, my first time back on stage
A security guard, convinced me and gave
A supportive shove into a local rapper
And they had me performing on stage soon after
A buncha teens looking at me like I was crazy
Nothing written so was freestyling to the beats that they gave me
They saw I was finna get booed again
They turned the beat off, and he came out and helped me then
Beatboxed as he gave me words to used
I was flawless in my spitting and even the crowd knew
I stumbled at the finish cuz I couldn't hear his words
But the crowd still cheered, at least that's what I heard
And after that, I performed at numerous events
Been on a path to share my artistry ever since...

Moral of the story is you can't give up
Whatever your dream, don't let nobody tell you it sucks
Hater come and go like the tides flow
So you better surf them waves whether high or low
And I know, it can get hard in a second
One little thing, tumbles your world and straight wrecks it...
But tribulation gonna come no matter what
So you better get in your prime like Shia Labeouf
Cuz YOU ARE IMPORTANT, and your dreams can make change
Like putting a dollar bill in a vending machine
So I'm never giving up and you can say whatever
This city kid made a switch like I pulled a lever
Now I'm going overdrive, overachieving, over believing too
And I also truly believe in you!
If you have a dream but looking at a long road, this songs for you
If you've been stepped on so wrongful, this songs for you
If you nobody believes in you, this songs for you
If you don't see the king in you, this songs for you
If you don't see the queen in you, this songs for you
And anybody who wants to make a difference
Just know this songs for you and I think that's how I'll end it
