What a Time to be Alive

For those looking at me like what do you even rhyme for?
Iife support,
break both legs when leaping from your high horse.
These riots, wars,
Fighting within me, I will achieve, Imma harness that light source,
Shining brightly seen through the darkness, believe its not light work.
As of today, I dont have contact with him, I haven't for years. I really hope he turned his life around. I kinda feel like a failure. C.S This is for you.

I got that fire from within, desire pours from the pen.
"Lead from the nine, wont give you the count of ten".
Now and then I check the news, all I see is sin.
This sixteen year old kid, pulled the trigger on his friend.
What a time to be alive, feels like the world gonna end.
So many ways to die, you never know by whos hands.
Its less likely to be a stranger, but more so be your kin.
Man how the hell did they even get those guns to begin?
Where the hell the parents at? (Man this shit don't make no sense)
What the fuck are we doin man? (Man this shit don't make no sense)
Whats with this crazy habitat? (Man this shit don't make no sense)
Real life aint the movies man. (A quick way to end up passed tense)
Now Im trying to climb this ladder, let me elaborate.
While some focus on battles, my brain recalibrates.
The tone gets heavy, then I begin to gravitate.
Wishin this was cinematic, ill have to imaginate.
I can't tell you how to make a killin, like robbin' dinero.
Nor what it feels like to rock the finer apparel.
But I can tell you what its like to sob into a pillow,
Cuz someone you love just keep poppin them pills of,
Oxycontin just so he can escape from his feels.
Quietly rotting, saw your face bones, it gave me chills.
Blank stares, unaware, pain and fear instilled, sorrow,
thoughts of your time being borrowed, anxiety kills.
Guess billionaires don't make bills off sobriety deals.
They make us feel ill, presentin vices in variety, filled
with toxins appealed by those not trying to get healed.
Cryin, tears flow hoping, thats not his daily life still.
I feel like shit because I don't know how to help him.
I tried to lead him different, but it seems it was helpless.
I had to leave him there, now does that make me selfish?
I spark the leaf as he Parish, cheif green like the Celtics
Un-for-tu-nate-ly no mat-ta how much I smoke, it doesn't seem to ease that pain.
Acc-or-ding to me, the shat-tered hopes for my bro is inspo for ea-sel and paint.
To say the least, its a crazy world we live in these days. If you struggle with substance abuse, im not judging, we all got our vices. Take that step and get better. Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357)
