Afterlife

Maybe in another life
You and I can get it right
All these scars we try to hide
Follow us into the night
And if I disappear tonight
Don't you cry or lose your life
I'll be somewhere in the sky
Waiting in the afterlife

{Verse 1}
Tired of trying to be the only one staying alive,
I don't wanna just survive—I still wanna live my life.
Stayed awake, well aware of how much this shit costs,
Every win came attached to another fucking loss.
Family and fortune can go up in the flames,
Build your whole fucking life, watch 'em spit on your name.
Survival got me living like I'm going insane,
Dead inside at the exact time I wanted to feel alive again.
That's the irony—survived everything that came,
Made it through the fire, still came walking through the flames.
Everybody celebrates when you make it through the pain,
Nobody asks what surviving did to your fucking brain.
So I'm carrying the weight like it's stitched to my spine,
Trying to make peace with the shit I can't leave behind.
If another life exists, maybe I'll get it right,
But I'm still fucking here—
So I'm fighting for this life.

{Verse 2}
I promise I never wanted to disappear, especially in this life,
I just wanted all this weight off me so I could finally feel alright.
Knew fighting back would probably only lead to this,
But laying down and taking it was never how I learned to live.
Knowing what I know now—fuck 'em all, let 'em talk,
Even giants start to stagger right before they take the fall.
I was staring up at mountains thinking they'd forever stand tall,
'Til I watched the strongest crumble and realized we're human after all.
Every battle took a piece, every victory took another,
Every time I lost somebody, I held tighter to the others.
Maybe strength ain't staying solid when you're breaking underneath,
Maybe strength is getting shattered and still getting to your feet.
So if you hear me talking like I'm running out of time,
It's 'cause I learned tomorrow ain't a promise, it's a lie.
I spent half my fucking life just learning how to survive,
Now I finally understand—
I wasn't scared to die.
I was scared I'd never live
While I was still alive.
