Haunted

{Verse 1}
I found my grandmother,
Blue and purple, body stiff from rigor mortis.
That picture never left me, still see it when it's darkest,
Some memories don't fade, they just become a part of us.
I can still feel the weight of her body in my arms,
Tryna give her CPR, thinking I could bring her back.
Calling out her name like somehow she'd respond,
Knowing something wasn't right but couldn't process that.
That ambulance took forever,
Swear a whole lifetime passed before I heard the sirens.
Seconds became minutes, every minute felt like hours,
Standing in that room watching everything go silent.
I was just a kid,
What the fuck was I supposed to do with death?
How you go from knowing somebody your whole damn life
To counting every breath and realizing there's none left?
People tell you time heals—
I don't know who the fuck came up with that.
Time just taught me how to carry what I saw,
'Cause all these years later, I can still take myself back.

{Hook}

Better days, better days,
I know they're coming my way.
Sun comes up, another chance,
Maybe everything'll be okay.
Better days, better days,
Even when the memories stay.
I'm still here, I'm still smiling,
Still finding reasons to celebrate.

{Verse 2}
I walked down some dark-ass paths,
Never knew if I was makin' it back.
Now I'm sittin' here alone with my thoughts,
Know one wrong choice and there ain't no comin' back.
Thought about hurting myself just to feel shit,
Then thought, that's dumb as fuck—I gotta live with it.
Funny how your own mind become the enemy,
Same motherfucker begging for life and death simultaneously.
Room pitch black, ain't a sound in the house,
Got a whole fucking war going on in my mouth.
One voice saying quit, one saying get through tonight,
One saying nobody cares, one saying that ain't right.
Maybe I don't wanna die, I just want this shit gone,
Want one fucking morning where the weight ain't along.
'Cause I've walked through hell and somehow came back,
Maybe there's still something waiting past the dark-ass path.

{Hook}
Better days, better days,
I know they're coming my way.
Sun comes up, another chance,
Maybe everything'll be okay.
Better days, better days,
Even when the memories stay.
I'm still here, I'm still smiling,
Still finding reasons to celebrate.

{Verse 3}
Now I got two little reasons I gotta get home,
Two voices remind me I ain't walking alone.
Funny how life went and flipped that shit around,
I spent years needing somebody—now they need me around.
I can't promise 'em life won't ever get rough,
Can't promise this world ain't gonna fuck shit up.
But I can promise when that darkness finally comes,
They ain't gonna have to fucking face it alone.
Maybe better days ain't some place that you find,
Maybe they're the little shit we overlook all the time.
Breakfast in the morning, everybody getting home,
Hearing laughter coming from the other fucking room.
Maybe Grandma ain't coming back, I know that now,
And some memories still knock the fucking wind out.
But if everything I've lost taught me anything,
It's hold the ones you got while they're still within reach.

{Final Hook}
Better days, better days,
I know they're coming my way.
Sun comes up, another chance,
Maybe everything'll be okay.
Better days, better days,
Even when the memories stay.
I'm still here, I'm still smiling,
Still finding reasons to celebrate.
