“It.” Full Poem.
• Written by NBT
The smell was evil.
Lingering
in the room like a
ghost.
It
Sunk into the
Chilled bones
Of the house, and
It
held there like
A grudge.
Consuming and
angry
in It’s
rancid
stench.
It
Claimed the very walls
And walked through the
halls.
Spreading and
Feeding,
It
Festered there.
It
Clung to you
Like a man
On his
Death
Bed.
A stowaway.
But this was
No man.
It
Was not human.
Blinding, but
It’s
Presence
Was known.
It
Left a trail, and was
Followed.
It
Crept closer to you.
Stalking
On long slender legs,
Which disappeared into
the Fog
Where
It’s
Feet should have been.
Skin
Black as the
Soul of the devil
And the
Heart
Of a man long since shattered.
It’s
Eyes were horrifying.
Flickering
Like a
FAulTy
Light switch.
They were two small twin
Black holes,
That shifted from a
Disturbing
Blood red
To a
Foggy
White haze.
Which shone out
against
the darkness.
It never let you see it move,
Unless
Particularly
Cruel.
It
Would move quickly,
So that you would not be
Truly
AFRAID
Until
It
Was close.
It
Preferred to stay right
BEHIND YOU
Until
You turned.
Lest you not be
It’s
Prey.
However,
If
It
Were to be particularly
Cruel,
It
Would let you watch.
Some would
Drag it out.
Watching
**YOU**
As it crept closer.
Step by step.
Yard by yard.
Foot by foot.
Inch
by
inch.
Listening
To you
Plead and pray.
Ignorant
Of any begging or bribes,
It would always come
**closer**.
But
Others were
Different.
It
Would let you watch,
And come at you
With
Blinding,
Terrifying
Speed.
Always sure to hit
It’s
Mark.
Shoot the target.
Catch
It’s
Prey.
It
Would never look away.
And
It
Would always
Follow you
**Home**.
So
Look out.
Children
Beware,
Of the
Creature
That
Follows you home
With a
Stare.
