Substance over Style

Picked off the poets tree, this fresh poetry

You can feel the potency, the smell of potpourri

I birthed so much recently without the ovaries

Cut the beat like Corey Lee, that odor peaks

An incredible feat, Benu on menu cuz it’s 3

And I eat while we in San Francisco’s streets

Not to mention the extensions of immigration intervention

Which progresses the food that he caresses, it’s a blessing

Can’t be messed with, you can try but you’ll reduce like

Alcohol in the dish, take your time tryna out-dine mine

 

We scream SOS but there ain’t an emergency

We just sit back and rap about life currently

We ain’t in at all for the currency

But if I’m gonna die then imma need it urgently

 

A church mouse in the house of the Lord

Silent but alarming if we see him run the floor

Like, corruption in the church but isn’t all of them

Some keep traditions, the others swallow them

Some say “sorry” for the ornery likes of their sights

Others have Molly inside the body of Christ

It’s hobby to keep them jumping out the lobby

But then it’s a fight to prevent the bites

Like, they washing down Ham with Zam Zam

In the spiritual, wrongs ain’t forgiven by rights

Nor what I write is gonna get me to the lights

The flesh is a costume that holds our soul too

They wanna scold you for trying exiting your sole wound

But when more fools troll you they leave you unlike soul food

And it’s a cold room they keep the remedies in

Don’t go searching for irrelevance in vanities kins

Listen, encouraging another to commit a sin

Should count for your sin not just only for his

Why you acting phony when I just wanna live

But I’m the number one enemy on your list

So is it you that maybe cannot get a grip?
