I Built a Home - VYN15

I built a home
For me
Blood that slowly turned to stone
The breeze
The wind’s soft sneeze
Everything going fast, the room so vast
Everything I built from me
Every branch of me
Grew leaves that fell each day
A never-ending autumn
A sun as dark as day
Eclipsing the growing arson
I built this home for me
Somewhere to rot
A place where I drop my leaves
I’ve gone through a lot
A tree as old as us
Reaching its final few sunsets
Roots wrap around my back
Warming all I lack
I thought we shared the same mirror
The one that falls and stabs with shards
But when the black flower turned red
I knew
My journey as a friend had reached its end
I thought I’d get a thanks—
But what did I expect?
Eyes of glass
I saw another world through it
But it fell
Shattered to shards
Tears that leave scars
Deep inside my heart
Like a comet swarm
I see everything crashing down
The arson becomes warm
My skin making sizzling sounds
You finally close the door
I thought I meant more
I thought this meant more
