POEM - Choose Him

Choose him

Choose the one that’s admired you from afar right from the start

The one who worships your heart, doesn’t leave you scarred,

Never disregards you because he couldn’t imagine hurting you like that

Choose the one that strokes your hair after a long day

Because there’s no way he’s going to leave when he could stay

And show me that I matter today and that he’ll never betray

Choose him

Choose the one who indulges in your hyperfixation in my case, cats

And perhaps, if he’d never met me he never would have held

A gecko in his hand, but choose him, choose him over and over again

Choose him over them, because he was actually there

And never chose to condemn, like when has that ever happened?

When has anyone ever been so loyal?

Choose him

Choose the one that helps you fight the war

Not the one that downplays the score only one that adores you

Stronger than any poetic metaphor that shakes you to your core

Never a bore when we explore the world so what did I do?

I chose him.
