Dear younger self, how you doing?

I know that in this time in your life you’ll say that you’re doing just fine,

And you are. Smiling, having a good time

Thinking about where you’ll be in next twenty years of your life,

And you know that’s just fine. it’s your life. It’s alright

 

Yeah, now what you been doing?

Do your parents know what goes on in the middle of the night?

And I know you’re scared, but it’s all you’ve ever known.

But I know it’ll haunt you for the rest of your life.

They don’t know why you don’t talk right, or about the monsters

that come when you close your eyes (don’t sleep, don’t sleep)

 

Dear younger self, the reason I write to you

Is cause I know what you been through

I know you don’t talk cause nobody’d believe you.

Just a kid. And they seem so perfect.

Ain’t nobody perfect. Just know that you’re worth it to somebody.

Somebody, someday you will know why I wrote to you

Someday you will see how you turned out and shake your head and smile.

 

Dear younger self, if you only knew.

Everything she does, it will affect you.

You see that knife that’s in her hand, it’s turned to a scar deeper than anyone can see.

And everything she doesn’t feel, you feel it instead.

It doesn’t really get better, see the pain’s still there

But the demons work together to mess up your head.

 

hey, I know you’re scared

But I made it this far, and I aint givin up now.

So hold up your hand if you’re not goin down without a fight.

We’ll hold back these monsters till we feel alright.

And we’ll stand there bravely till we’re the only sight in their eyes… their eyes…..

 

Dear younger self, I’m here with you

Don’t ever be afraid to just be you.

I know they taunt, and I know they stare

But you must show them that you’re not scared.

So… stand up and fight.

Show them you are alright.

Show your teeth little tiger.

Don’t be afraid. You’re a fighter.

Youll rise up to be the queen!

Yeah , you’ll rise up to be a queen.
