Lyrical Analysis of...
Suburban Hood
- Hi! I'm a white dude who grew up in a city with a million
- I'm privileged because of the skin I'm in and considered brilliant
- I'm in Canada, glamorous you would think I've never heard shit
- But in my hood suburban, the cops coming is a common occurence
- We've had evictions, drug houses, strippers housed in as neighbours
- But I'm a rose in concrete, flow is concrete leave the haters encased in
- Situations, man before we had a fence, our yard let to the alley
- Where people had sex, and thats before I was born yet into reality
- And this is Calgary, I can't imagine the situations others have
- On me and my brothers ave, we once got chased with a fucking axe
- On our way to school, because he kicked a rock he was middle aged
- Me and my brother were still little hey, but it didn't matter to his face
- At that time I had never even spit a case for the illest laid
- On a track, I had a neighbor evicted today,
- Trying to fight cops, he wanted my mom to film the fight
- And when she said no, he wouldn't let go and tries to convince her right
- Shit good thing he left that night, eitherwise it might have got awkward
- And I've seen some parents of kids here who were either scared and got words
- Fighting ones, and act like they scary and tough hiding behind the fact
- They going to grow old and they kids will be dying in cracks
- Of sidewalks, while I am rising from concrete, the rose
- Whether it be on beat with flows, or on another prose
- I just know I'm a fucking pro, wherever I end up and go
- I know I will succeed, just be fucking me, and I'll contend the throne
- I mend myself and mind it, to my minds trenches I'm binded
- The place I live, has some racist kids, my sentiment isn't like it
- People hate the government but go the wrong way to fight the system
- And other people claim they love it while the unjust die in prison
- For causes not deserved of the times they spending, if its bad here
- I cant imagine an area like, a stereotype in the damn weird
- Climate of the states, the climates rising the stakes across nations
- And here I'm off facing watching ushave got complacent
- While people are told to trust god and brace it
- Say thoughts and prayers, but we're not praying
- We say shit to say it, this generation has to know
- That these people, are deceitful we cant just say it
- We need to hand a rope
- give some goddamn hope
