Lyrical Analysis of...
Downfall
- I didn't mean to make that choice, can you even still hear,
- The sound of my voice, I checked a text, and then we wrecked,
- The car went into a ditch, I shouldn't have responded, to that stupid bitch,
- We used to be closer than, Lilo and Stitch, closer than Alex and Albert,
- In Hitch, the car flooded with mud, and now divine light,
- Is pouring down, from above, we used to be, deeply in love,
- My dear Shay, we were supposed to get, married in May, even though your,
- Parents didn't approve, because they thought you were gay,
- You told them you were no longer that way, after you and Tameka,
- Broke away, and then, when she texted me the other day,
- I looked down at my phone, and swerved the wrong way,
- The car tumbled in violence, and now we're in the hospital,
- Surrounded in silence, I'm crying, because I felt, deep,
- Down, that you're dying, when Tameka walked in the doorway sighing,
- I looked at her face, looking for signs of remorse, but none were there of course,
- When she spoke, her words, were coarse, she made me so upset,
- That I started to forget, the doctor said you needed quiet, I yelled at her,
- I was riled, and about to riot, then I saw that you were flat lining, Tameka,
- Sat back in a chair, smiling, and reclining, and doctors flooded the room,
- Tameka watching from the side, like an angle of doom, I felt my heart sink,
- Consumed by a dark, cloud, of gloom, I'm through,
- I couldn't live another day without you, I found some cyanide,
- And I was ready to commit suicide, but then I was filled with rage,
- Like an angry bear, that escaped its cage, and now is on the hunt,
- If I wasn't suicidal, this would be a crazy stunt, but not for love, not for me,
- And soon, the entire world will see, I have Tameka in my sights,
- And my finger on the trigger, 1 2 3, the deed is done, but have I really won,
- Shay was my number one, but I was your number two, when you and Shay,
- Were threw, I starting fucking, both of you, but I fell in love with Shay,
- And didn't need you anymore, so you, I started to ignore, but my lust would,
- Get the best to me, and I would want more, so when I saw your text,
- I thought I could get a booty call, and now this has become the root,
- Of our downfall, good bye y'all, I pull the steel to my head, pull the trigger,
- Which hits me lead, but somehow I'm not dead, I check the gun,
- And the bullets are rubber, Tameka stands up, and says that we should,
- Love each other, she knew my plan the whole time, she said deep down,
- Both of our souls, are drowned in slime, she replaced my bullets,
- The other day, she, said, she prayed, and hoped that it wouldn't turn out,
- That way, she hoped that, killing Shay, would bring us together, forever,
- But through this endeavor, Tameka believes the death made my connection,
- To Shay even stronger, that bonds through death last even longer,
- She reminded me, of when we were secretly dating, memories,
- I was continually hating, about how she would pour us coffee on the daily,
- Then I started feeling hazy, when she broke in to replace the bullets,
- She poisoned my drink, into, the darkness I began to sink, and in a blink,
- I saw here stumble closer, she collapsed into my lap,
- We both died in her apartment, now we're taking, a dirt nap,
