Lyrical Analysis of...
Sent to Repent
- Yeah, uh, here we go
- (My verse starts at 0:22)
- Hey girl, what's with the low jaw
- Told me to quit my day job
- Now I've been robbed, dropped, mopped up, tossed up and locked up
- But when you got shot up I just locked up and shut down and wound up to be found around a couple of clowns in an alley in Chinatown
- Like wow, how could my life just be turned around and downed
- Now I know I'm heaven bound, but I feel like I'm not done yet
- Believe me I'll never forget, but you just gotta respect the intent to repent from where I've gone and went
- But now I've been sent to vent where brave men went
- Who am I to go, I could barely pay my rent, I was bent, crack addicted, wicked and afflicted with pain only I could sustain
- But life is all just a game, and I was bad at it, I relapsed and crashed at it, and could never get rid of habits
- I feel kinda like a hunted rabbit, nowhere to go, I just wanna bounce back like pogo, and keep it real like my polo
- But y'all know that although I am stuck, Imma try to kick this shit like Taekwondo
- I remember I couldn't afford a condo, living in my momma's basement shit felt vacant, but to my amazement my life turned for the better when Webster gave me that letter
- But nevermind that, let me take you to the times back, when I couldn't even afford a decent meal for my girl
- I wanted to give her the world but could barely afford Sonic
- Shit had me smoking pounds of chronic, my life was depressing like serious comics
- But it's ironic how your life can go from addicted to fast, like Sonic
- To rejoicing with God, no conflict
- And just remember Imma be gone till November but in the mean while, to my little sister, I got angels to send her
