Lyrical Analysis of...
Broken Home Child
- (Verse 1)
- I remember watching cartoons on my dads TV/ we were livin' in
- Cambridge in house 203/ on Maple Street, I don't remember him
- seeing me, he'd always be asleep/ working late shifts so that me and
- my grandmother could eat/ she was in the basement, she was just
- like a replacement/ for my mom when she walked out the door, fuck
- this generation/ my dad was left behind, but he stuck by my side/ I
- was 5 when this happened, through my eyes I'd never realize/ all the
- disguised lies in my life, all of it stabbing me sharper than knifes/
- turned 9 my moms came and went that my dad would date and all of
- it meant/ that he tried but surprise those women moved on/ guess
- relationships don't end all in a rise, he couldn't deny/ he was broke,
- this was goodbye/ I moved in with mom in July, already a guy that
- she slept with at night/ tried to act like a father I wish he would die/
- moved far away about 200 miles/ took my dad to trials for child care
- I wouldn't see him for a while/
- (Chorus)
- Before you criticize my style through your eyes I might be vile/ but all
- my pain and anger sits around in a pile/ till I can't smile and I put this
- pen on paper it might take a while/ but what you see is the aftermath
- of a broken home child
- (Verse 2)
- Few years have passed, at last I see my dad/ said he's been through
- hell, bouncing through jobs was sad/ finally he could provide me with
- all of what he had, but I turned down the offer cause my mother
- made me mad/ 'bout the way he stole my savings and how he was
- so bad/ to leave her empty handed I'm just so fuckin' sad/ she'd ever
- brain wash me with lies that made him look like that/ now I have
- regrets but here's the thing the upswing of the thing/ dads back on
- his feet, his mama too at the least/ they still live far away but I know
- no bitch will ever feast/ on my delusion again but gotta find a way to
- make a relationship exist/ I bet my dad would understand, he already
- dealt with this bitch.
- (Chorus)
