Lyrical Analysis of...
Chanel 201 Interview
- 1. What was your favorite track on the album?
- //:KO
- .my favorite track on the album was definitely "i wanna end".
- I loved the flows and lyrics on that song.
- It was in the vault for a while and I think I did that beat justice.
- A close second is either lost friends or out of pocket interlude
- out of pocket had great lyrics
- 2. Do you think you upgraded lyrically or stayed the same?
- //:KO
- I think I mostly upgraded lyrically on the album.
- I think I got better at storytelling and overall rhyming in the album.
- But it was supposed to be more personal lyrics on the album,
- at least moreso than three headed
- But I like getting introspective almost as much as making concepts
- But overall, I think there was great lyrics on the project
- 3. What's your writing process?
- //:KO
- Well, it differs from track to track, but usually,
- I find the concept or thing I want to rap about first
- Then I find a good beat for it, usually just song instrumentals but not always
- Then I write ideas down and make them rhyme and flow into the song
- I mostly focus on verses instead of hooks in my songs
- 4. Favorite feature and why?
- //:ko
- My favorite feature was definitely Kalligraphy's.
- I think he's very lyrically talented in general and he was a go to for getting on the album
- I think he did the job well and fit the beat just as well as the lyrics did
- I think Shinjuku's verse was good too, but personally, I like Kalligraphy's one just slightly better
- 5. Anything you would do different next time?
- //:ko
- If I had more time, I would probably add more choruses and verses to the tracks. I feel like
- Some of them felt too short or not fully realized.
- So next project I definitely wanna make more thought out and evolved tracks
- 6. After this album what's your plans?
- //:ko
- Well I don't know much. I have some collab albums in the vault that I will not be talking about right now
- But for future projects, I wanna experiment more with genres and tap into different moods
- I wanna push my boundaries outside of rap and test myself with every project
- 7. This is more personal but I(justice) loved "lost freinds" personally
- I think it's the best On the album. Obviously I know what the inspiration was
- But how do you feel about the things that are happening with Autos account now?
- I think you know what I'm talking about if not I'll make a reply.
- //:ko
- Well, first of all thank you, and second of all, lost friends was probably the second hardest track to make on the album
- After the step that changed my life. I wanted to make a big tribute to not just Auto, but Twizt3d, Track King, Harry and Infinity
- And all the people who helped my career. But right now, with Auto's account, I feel like they're spirits are in the right place
- But the last posthumous Auto album just wasn't the same. A lot of the tracks, in my opinion, felt unfinished, with features slapped onto them
- And I don't think Auto would approve of it if he was still here
- Not anything against the person who's running his account, but I just don't think the best material is coming out
- 8. Finally what was your ...realization that you were an MC?
- Like what did you write and as you read it you were like "I can fucking rap"
- //:KO
- I joined this site mostly as a joke, cuz i started freestyling in my basement after I listened to rap songs
- My first songs are genuinely horrible lol but I think the first song that I really thought was good
- Was probably "King Fight Pt. 2" from one of my old old mixtapes
- It was a long concept song, but I think it was probably my first real best work
