- I met hip-hop when I was about 13
- As i saw 50 cent blow up on my Tv screen
- Just loved what I saw, damn, yeah, I heard it
- Didnt know it was black music cuz I heard Eminem before
- Then I took a detour, Headed bac to the store,
- Moreover I moved back cuz I wanted to learn some more
- About the history and how they'd made a legacy
- Outta their street culture, using break beats for their poetry
- Heard Tupac Shakur rap like a lion roar
- Heard Biggie Smalls rap bout his riches galore
- Heard Jay-Z rap bout being the hottest MC
- They called Nas the realest poet without a college degree
- And as I started digging in, a feeling started sinking in
- Hip Hop was never intended to light up your glossy magazines
- Hip hop was for the people in the neighbourhood uniting the streets
- Isn't it just amazaing how the creators made it professionally
- If you don't get rap, I understand, U aint a whack
- But just respect the history before you call it "Some crap"
