DEFENDER'S RAP

• I’d be lying if I said I’ve never thought of the man I’ll become in ten years time
• My place in society and the game’s notoriety. The thoughts of being a provider poke at me violently
• Never needed to drink away the pain, cause I rock with sobriety
• 24 years old, and I feel distraught the more I hear about my classmates achievements
• Try to be who I’m bein’, but deep down I’m scared that the man that they’re seein’
• Is a lazy good-for-nothing not even worth the slightest dime in the world’s perceiving
• I’m tryna break through the ceiling, but it seems there’s no limit
• To the resume I have to have built up to be considered worthy
• I have dreams of one day building a house with a loving wife and family
• But I’m scared to death she might hurt me
• Lord, what must a man do
• To reel in a godly wife from Earth’s vast ocean?
• An angel fish in a sea of flesh-eating piranhas
• Who only intend to stall your motion
• Social anxiety’ll eat me first
• I could’ve had a partner long ago
• If I wasn’t afraid of having a knife pressed to my chest
• And my insides scooped hollow
• “The worst she can say is no”
• Until she snaps her friends calling me a creep
• For merely insisting we should get to know each other better
• Grab a cup of coffee like those little Hallmark couples during sweater weather
• It’s not like it’s a lifelong commitment to remain together
• One of the worst pains is knowing something is so close to your grasp
• And it may never blossom due to inappropriate circumstances
• God knows my heart, I pray he’ll fill me with chances
• To speak my heart as a man and make my advances
