DEFENDER'S RAP

• I can’t even begin to tell you all just where my head has been
• Where positive and negative are boxin for the hell of it
• As beef becomes harder to stomach on some indigestion shit
• My pocket is a bed of lint embodied by a devil’s grin
• Found solace in the swan song I promised I would never sing
• And pictured my initials in a locket or a wedding ring
• Arms around somebody who could talk me into anything
• Even my ol mate fate stares astonished at my destiny
• But is that Rest In Peace or a story yet to be finished?
• This Christmas I’m just hopin that I’ll know my presence is gifted
• But is poisoned wine locked up where my skull is kept in the kitchen?
• Covered in cobwebs, dusty but spotless, no attempt to be hidden
• And how I wish I could have just said that everything was good
• Body half in the casket, a single scratch embedded in the wood
• Starin back at solemn pallbearers…or perhaps devils under hoods?
• In limbo between two worlds, both of which I never understood
