CHALLENGER'S RAP

• I'd come downstairs everyday, take the blanket off her cage and say "Good morning!"
• And she'd whistle it back joyously
•  
• I remember peeking underneath and seeing her fluff up, falling asleep
• A cockatiel of unconditional companionship, love, she was always so sweet
•  
• Seldomly she pecked when petting her crest, that whimsical spiky head
• With her dark-grey feathered body, outer wings as white as snow
• A faint lime-green face and a perfect circle on each cheek orangish-red
• Happily perched in her sizable, little metal aviary right by the window
• She'd fly around the home once in awhile or on my finger she would rest
• An occasional surprise or jolt is when she wouldn't be quite as jocose
• Habitually chirpy, ear's irritant gotten used to but I wonder what she said?
• When our household split my aunt took her without given a final cheerio
• Left abruptly saddened to no chance of visiting her my dear old friend
• I miss having her pure animalistic spirit around to lift mine when low
• When the toxicity of my parents' arguing seemingly would never end
• When catching collateral damage in the onslaughts of those fights would grow
• If there's anything I've learned from that bird it was to ignore the mayhem
• There's often things worth cherishing in the midst of chaos; fly free, smile more
• Because bright eyes to an upbeat personality her tiny self would often express.
