DEFENDER'S RAP

• Another vivid daydream where I could get to sleep,
• awakened in a nightmare; when will I get to rest in peace?
• Hallucinations from paralysis preventing me;
• my hearts almost exploding as I attempt to breathe.
• Chest pumping, my head is thumping, I'm sweating bullets,
• vessel numbing but senses flood in as I prepare for nothing.
• Totally helpless to this omen; swear I felt it touching?
• Do I dare open my eyes & attempt at looking?
• Maybe God's preparing me for my death?
• Maybe it's a sign when I'm stuck to believe in my strength.
• Teaching us to never freeze when we're perceiving a threat,
• or maybe I'm just needing help but cannot speak it direct?
• It's commonplace - man this happens all of the time,
• hoping this time I see no demons but the holy divine.
• Flicker my lids; dark shadows with a moment of light,
• just when I think I'm approaching demise I open my eyes.

• It's sleep paralysis -
• why am I even having this?
• Head to the doctor cos it's needing some analysis.
• Scared of sleep but deprivation seems the catalyst;
• yeah - do you suffer sleep paralysis?

• Think I need to sleep, I don't know if I'm awake;
• don't even know what's real, I don't even know what's fake.

• Made my bed from all the sleepless nights,
• a real rest's a bigger dream than global equal rights.
• As I wake up from this coma it's not even light,
• I creep the night & read or write then leave to get my P's in time.
• I'm needing peace of mind; so I'll sleep when I'm dead,
• dark circles, deeper lines than the sixteen's in my head.
• N' with these problems I seem inclined to be keeping suppressed
• I think I'm doing more damage not getting these demons off my chest.
• Bipolar sleeping pattern, intoxicated with green I'm wrapping,
• smoking seems to increase the panic with complications from breathing rapid.
• But it seems I need that plant, it's not possible sleeping without it,
• all this insomnia partly responsible for my recent scowling.
• I know in life you need it, I just hope tonight
• prescriptions docs proposing might just kill me off before this smoking might.
• Can't go a night without the spirits so it's no surprise,
• I see a blurry version of them when I close my eyes, it's sleep paralysis...
