CHALLENGER'S RAP

• From the day that we are born, slapped on the ass and told we are free,
• We are forced to set goals everyone knows are out of reach.
• But first, we must learn the language in which to talk,
• Follow our mother's footsteps and slowly learn to walk,
• Walk right up those steps and through the doors to classrooms,
• where we stay and sit in the same seat,
• where we must raise our hand to ask permission to use the bathroom.
• Told adults are our superiors and we must learn respect.
• Never object without retrospect and the fear of inevitably getting decked.
• We stay here and watch the years fly by
• Reading books we must analyze like catcher in the rye.
• Forced to look deeper, but only to a certain degree
• We are penalized when we believe these books make us free,
• Punished when we are finally able to see the real side of humanity.
• We are told we can be whatever we want to be,
• but then judged on our ability to follow rules,
• where the truly intelligent are told they are merely fools.
• Those who listen succeed, and move on to a college in the Ivy league
• Yale, Harvard, and Princeton are only applicable to those fatigued
• from reading and writing for no better reason than to follow
• what we are told is admirable, wanting to hear bravo
